Sunday Scribblings - My Style

My style really isn’t something that I have thought a lot about much lately. I think that as a mom it is all too easy to fall into that trap. I’m lucky in that I have a husband who encourages me to leave our daughter with him and spend some time on myself. Of course when I get that time where I don’t have to worry about her I typically start working on all the other things that need to be done and don’t spend the time on myself. I’m working on improving that, but it is hard to balance everything when you’re a parent.

When my daughter was first born I was happy to get a shower so style certainly didn’t play into my days. I wound up falling into what I would call the “mom style” of low maintenance everything. Now that my daughter is getting a little older I’m working on getting back my personal style. I’ve grown tired of having my makeup and jewelry sitting neglected on the vanity table. I miss dressing nicely and having my makeup done. I’ve come to realize that to be a good mom I have to be happy and take care of me too. It isn’t all about my daughter and her needs.

Now that I’ve started taking the time for me I am a much happier person. It’s not that I was unhappy before, but I wasn’t as happy as I could be. My style is still evolving and my life is definitely work in progress, but I feel like I’m getting there.

What about you, what’s your style? Ro read other responses to this prompt, check out Sunday Scribblings.
